Cacert work with windows mobile 6?
Hi,

Is Cacert certificates trusted by default by windows mobile 6? I
presume this will allow me to avoid the $300 charge of companies like
thwate? I haven't had much success with adding my own certificates...

Thanks for any tips

Re: Cacert work with windows mobile 6?
You will need to add it manually,

http://www.microsoft.com/technet/solutionaccelerators/mobile/maintain/SecModel/bd8cc6b6-0038-4e56-b1d4-b7b9af9ea6ef.mspx?mfr=true

If it were me, go with Go Daddy certificate, inexpensive and will work with
WM6.

Thanks John, that was a top tip. Go Daddy seems to be offering much
better value for money. I can't really see how Thwate, Verisign etc
get away with it.

Although it still doens't quite work :(

if I go to https://mydomain/exchange I get into OWA and it doesn't
complain about certificates at all. If I click on the padlock it says
verified by GoDaddy.

But if I go to the same web page on my mobile it says "the cerificate
was issued by a company you have not chosen to trust".

"Go Daddy Class 2 Certification Authority" is listed on my phone as a
root certificate.

Any more ideas?

Thanks

Self signed certificates are a snap to install on WM6.

Export the public portion of your root cert, copy it to the WM6
device, and double click on it. The Cert will install itself on the
phone and then you should have no trouble syncing to your Exchange
Active Sync folder.

When you only have a few WM devices, you are quite right. When you have
dozens or hundreds, its a support nightmare.

Re: Cacert work with windows mobile 6?
We ran into a similar issue with a GoDaddy cert recently. It seems they have
changed them somehow and the CA is not longer trusted by WM.
We ended up going back to Thwate since it ignited a firestorm with the
users.

Re: Cacert work with windows mobile 6?
Is for WM5 or WM6? I have had no issue with WM6 and Go Daddy.

Re: Cacert work with windows mobile 6?
Probably WM5. But I didn't get much time to investigate. I was on the road
and had to pull the trigger fast.
