ActiveSync does not work.
I have a simple Exchange 2003 environment that includes one FE E2k3 server
and one BE E2k3 server. Both are running SP2 for Exchange, and both are
Win2k3 with SP1. I have forms based authentication enabled on the Front end
Exchange server, and am using a self-signed certificate for SSL. The
certificate is mail.domain.com. ActiveSync is enabled, and I have the
certificate installed on my PDA (PPC 6700 running the latest Windows Mobile
5.0).

For some reason, I can not get ActiveSync working on my Windows Mobile
device. Is there a good article for how to do this? Are there any known
issues with FE Exchange and forms based authentication? Basically, when I
try to sync from the phone I get authentication errors.

Re: ActiveSync does not work.
I'm having the same problem .. Take a look on this article:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/817379/en-us

The method 2 says that this cannot be performed on the FE server, and the
method one says that to solve the problem you only have to install a FE
server.
So what now? I have one FE and BE and still not working.

Can anyone help me and TJC?

Re: ActiveSync does not work.
Yeah, unfortunately I've seen that article too and it doesn't help much. No
matter how I configure the authentication methods on the FE server, I get
the "ActiveSync encountered a problem on the server - 0x85010014" result.

Certainly there has got to be someone out there who has a similar
configuration that is working.

Re: ActiveSync does not work.
Now it's working in my lab environment .. I follow the solution in KB
817379 - Method 2, creating another Virtual Directory in my Default Web Site
and it's working now.

Re: ActiveSync does not work.
Thanks for the response Carlos.

One question, is your lab environment a FE / BE configuration? I've seen
that article, but I assumed that I would need to go with "method 1", which
simply says to install a FE server which I already have.

Re: ActiveSync does not work.
My lab has only one Exchange Server .. that's why I go to Method 2 ..
And in my production environment Ihave FE / BE config and I try the Method 2
without success.
Now I ask Microsoft to help me with this (SA Support).
