mobile & back end server
Hello,

As I am not an Exchange guru, and I need some clairification
I have 3 W2K3 servers and one standard E2K3 server all behind a non ISA
firewall. Let's call the domain DOM01.local and the organizations e-mail
address test.com. The exchange server gets its e-mail from test.com through
MX records. Users on the inside send and receive e-mail with O2K3 via the
E2K3and from the outside users send and receive e-mail with OWA using
https://owa.test.com/exchange via the E2K3. I want to set up OMA and direct
push with Mobile 5 devices. Port 80 and 443 are open on the firewall. I
have been told that it is a matter of creating a certificate and I have been
told that I would have to have a Front end server to accomplish this task.
If this is the case could I purchase and install Enterprise edition on the
server and have both the front and back end server on the same box. Or
would I have to use another box behind the firewall to accomplish this task.
Can the task be accomplished without a front end server?

Thank You

John

Re: mobile & back end server
You can do this with your existing Exchange 2003 Standard version. I would
suggest purchasing a Third Party Public Certficate from InstantSSL or
Versign, they are fairly inexpensive and all your mobile devices will have
them preinstalled in their Certificate store.

BTW: I would suggest going with Exchange Activesync for your WM5 devices.
OMA is just OWA on a mobile device. I would insure your Wireless Provider
phones support the Messaging Security and Feature Pack for Direct Push to
work at all. Then you can install Exchange Activesync Mobile Admin Console
on your Exchange Server to remote wipe your WM5 devices if needed.
