ActiveSync Question
My environment consists of two servers: Windows Server 2003 SP1 both
configured as Global Catalogue servers. One of them is a BE Exchange 2003
server, the other is a FE Exchange 2003 server. Both have Exchange Server
2003 SP2 installed.

I am running OWA with Forms-Based authentication. I have a self-signed
certificate called webmail.domain1.com.

While connected to my network inside the firewall, I am able to get
activesync working on my Windows Mobile 5.0 device (PPC 6700 Pocket PC). My
delimma is that I can NOT seem to get it to work while outside the network.

any suggestions?

Re: ActiveSync Question
Is that address accessible from outside your firewall? Open internet
explorer mobile and try domain.com/oma and see if you get any certificate
warnings. If so make sure that the certificate name matches the address
your trying to connect to.

Re: ActiveSync Question
Well, OMA does not seem to work. I try to browse to
http://webmail.domain1.com/oma and I get an error webpage that says "a
system error occured while processing your request...". It also logs an
event ID 1503 MSExchangeOMA error in the application log.

I'm assuming OMA needs to work for ActiveSync to work?

On the Windows Mobile device, I get error 0x85010014 when I try to sync.
I've looked at a couple of sites to troubleshoot including the one below...
but no help.

Re: ActiveSync Question : 1503 :-(
I've got a 1503 that's hassling me as well.

OMA was working fine until I added an extra website to IIS and I added an
extra IP for a second SMTP relay.

I figure it's something silly. Or I'm hoping it's something silly. It's
just software, right?

Re: ActiveSync Question : 1503 :-(
I have Exchange 2003 SP2 on Windows 2003 R2 SP1

When I access /oma, I get this error
A System error has occurred while processing your request. Please try again.
If the problem persists, contact your administrator.

In my config, SSL is not required, FBA is not required
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/817379
I tried method 2, but that didn't help

This KB doesn't apply
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/817311
This machine was never Windows 2000
And I never uninstalled or re-installed any of the .Net stuff.

I really don't believe this article applies
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/842119
My server is not heavily loaded
I have more than enough memory and I don't get memory errors on SA
startup.

I don't have CRM installed.
I don't have SharePoint installed.

I do have two IP addresses and two different URLs on each IP address, both
on port 80. I'm not going to use alternate ports.

The default IP address is also my Exchange URL & OMA.

I don't have a front end server.

Come on guy, it's just software.

Re: ActiveSync Question : 1503 :-(
Yeah, I've been through those KBs too. I stuck with method1 since I've got
the FE/BE setup. Just can't seem to get it working!
