Windows Mobile w/ non-standard http port
Hi,

my Exchange 2003 SP2 server is listening on a non-standard port. Is there
any way to change the default port of 80 on the mobile device? I am using a
Windows Mobile 5 smart phone from T-Mobile (MDA Pro).

Any help is *deeply* appreciated.

Re: Windows Mobile w/ non-standard http port
You will need port 80, but more specifically port 443.

John,

thanks for your reply. So there is no tweak to use a port different then
80/443 (like server:444)?

You can search Google or contact the Phone Provider to see if anyone has
tried this but I have not heard of any concerning WM5 devices. Can I ask
the question why Exchange is listening on a non-standard port?

Re: Windows Mobile w/ non-standard http port
John,

the phone provider allows the non-standard port (I can get through with a
browser), but I do not see any way to configure it in ActiveSync
("server:port" does not work). We are a small shop and have just one public
IP address. The default ports are already used for regular web services. So
I need another port to connect to the Exchange server.

Re: Windows Mobile w/ non-standard http port
IMy assumption is that it will be a registry tweak on the Exchange Server
itself. You might need to call Microsoft PSS to see if this is supported.

FYI: You might call your ISP to see if you can get another Public IP, they
are pretty inexpensive these days. I have DSL circuit and each IP is $5 per
month extra. I have the same setup as yours at my Office Location where I
have multiple servers with 3 Public IP's, each doing web, exchange,
sharepoint, etc.

Re: Windows Mobile w/ non-standard http port
Hi John,

thanks for all your help. I'll do as suggested and I am sure that one of
these solutions works :)
