Support code 85010004
SBS2003 Standard SP2 server, Treo 700w/Verizon with MSFP update.

During OTA sync, get this error:

Your account in Microsoft Exchange Server does not have permission to
synchronize with your current settings. Contact your Exchange server
administrator.

Support code: 0x85010004

All "Exchange Features" in ADU&C are enabled for user account.

In ESM Global Settings/Mobile Services, Enable user-initiated sync and
Enable direct push over HTTP(S) is turned on. No Device Security settings
are enabled at this time.

I've installed the server's self-cert on the Treo (copied to Treo's My
Documents and clicked it) and it appears in the certificates list as a root
cert.

I can browse https://servername.domain.tld/exchange from the Treo.

I've reviewed http://support.microsoft.com/?id=817379 and confirmed that SBS
SP2 setup has already made the changes described in the article.

I am NOT seeing any events in the server's Application or Security log when
I try to sync.

Have you verified that SSL is set on the oma, eas, public, and rpc vdirs on
your iis server?

Re: Support code 85010004
Thanks for your reply, Robert.

OMA, Microsoft-Server-ActiveSync are not set to require SSL. Public & RPC
are. I changed OMA & MSAS to require SSL but was still unable to sync.

After testing, I set them back the way they were since I know they've not
been changed since the server was set up. Are SSL settings for these vdirs
documented that you know of?

Re: Support code 85010004 - SOLVED
Got it. I reread this passage in MSKB 817379 that I had previously
dismissed--

"If you are receiving the errors that are described in the "Symptoms"
section on Small Business Server 2003, run the Configure E-Mail and Internet
Connection Wizard. The wizard should help you reconfigure the /Exchange
virtual directory and forms-based authentication to work with Outlook Mobile
Access and with Exchange ActiveSync."

Well...I wasn't receiving the errors in the "Symptoms" section, which is why
I had ignored it. Honestly, I would have ignored the whole article except it
was cited so often on Usenet posts. But figured it was good advice anyway,
and probably couldn't hurt, so I did it. And it turned out to be good
advice. And now I'm syncing!

Wish I knew what CEICW just did, because I have a client with the same
problem, but they're not on SBS. Who knows if it was the same issue, but
whatever it is, I'll have to figure it out the old-fashioned,
non-wizard-assisted way.

Which often involves peer support, so if anyone knows what CEICW did, or
what this same problem might be on a non-SBS system, let me know!

Re: Support code 85010004
For lurkers, OMA & MSAS still were not set to require SSL after running
CEICW (see my other post on SBS CEICW in this thread) but sync started
working.
