Hi, We took over the management of an Exchange 2003 SP1 server which worked fine, however the only thing that wasn't working was OWA. Every time one tries to log in the web browser just hangs (after the username/password were put in), saying "Waiting for response from server ....". I tried both IE and Firefox and they both have the same problem. I thought that installing SP2 might help this since it looks like a bug to me, but that didn't solve it either. The only thing that I noticed that is different now is that I occasionally get an "500 Internal Server Error" if it's not hanging. Exchange 2003 is installed on the 2nd domain controller in a 2003 domain. The problem is that I have no idea how to troubleshoot this. I already browsed through MS Knowledge Base without success. A bunch of KB articles, but nothing really helped. One thing that I noticed was that during the SP2 setup the Information Store was not stopping (the updater was trying for about 10 minutes). I had to stop the W3SVC service in order for the IS to stop - and then I got 5 of the following messages: EVENT # 7572 EVENT LOG System EVENT TYPE Warning SOURCE W3SVC EVENT ID 1013 COMPUTERNAME DOC TIME 4/27/2006 8:09:45 PM MESSAGE A process serving application pool 'ExchangeApplicationPool' exceeded time limits during shut down. The process id was '5876'. and a final EVENT # 7577 EVENT LOG System EVENT TYPE Error SOURCE W3SVC EVENT ID 1002 COMPUTERNAME DOC TIME 4/27/2006 8:09:45 PM MESSAGE Application pool 'ExchangeApplicationPool' is being automatically disabled due to a series of failures in the process(es) serving that application pool. This makes me think that there is something wrong with the web access component but I have no idea what it is and how to fix it. I was hoping to find some sort of debug log file, but that doesn't seem to exist. I tried comparing the IIS/Virtual Server settings with a working installation but to no avail. Now before I forget - this morning, before the SP2 install - I did actually login to the mailbox once - but never again. And right after the SP2 install I was also able to see the mailbox though the actual email messages from the inbox never showed up. Clicking around also went nowhere - it hung from there. It almost seems like something is "dying" right after one logs in. I'm basically at my wits end and this is my last attempt to get some input before I'm going to be forced to call Microsoft Support which I *really* would like to avoid. Any suggestion is very welcome. Thanks! Florian.
