Direct Push
I got my Treo 700w updated to MSFP today and
- configured Exchange to lock it down with enforced timeout and password
policy
- got GAL lookup working fine

I don't have ISA 2004 for a firewall, just another vendor's hardware
solution. I've got my mobile device connecting using Exchange ActiveSync
every 15 minutes during working hours but I haven't seen where on the other
side to set up the timeout period. I was thinking of uping the resync time
to 20 or 30 minutes on the Treo but wanted to ensure that I matched it on
Exchange. Where is that done?

Frankly, I don't even know how to confirm that Direct Push is working.

Any help?

Thanks.

Re: Direct Push
If you set the Treo to deliver email "as new items arrive" that should get
you push email. You can confirm on your front end server by viewing the
event log. Here are the details:

Re: Direct Push
After uprading two Treo's that were syncing via sms triggers, I found out
that it was better to hard reset the device because direct push didn't
function. When trying to setup exchange activesync I never had an option to
use diect push(like on other WM5/AKU2 devices). Everytime I tried to setup
syncing items as they arrived I was prompted for the sms address of my
device. After the hard reset I was able to setup syncing without using sms
triggers. I think this is something that palm/verizon should look into as
there's not clear cut way to specify direct push.

Re: Direct Push
Thanks, Glenn.

Using information from the link, I was able to confirm that my Exchange
server is properly configured. What I didn't see, however, was how I adjust
the time Exchange keeps the connection open ("keep alive time") so that I
can extend my device's polling frequency from 15 to something longer. Any
help?
