SP2 Push Mail working... GAL not...
Hey,

I have got SP2 push mail working perfectly, well almost, with My Imate
Jasjar (HTC Universal). I upgraded the ROM so that its running AKU/MSFP and
hacked an install of the Root Certificate we use and everything works fine.
Over the air push is working, Activesync - cradled or non cradled is
working. From my LAN I connect to same address I connect through GPRS/Wifi.

Its just that I cannot see the GAL anywhere?

If I compose a new mail I can only see my Contacts that have been
synchronised from my Mailbox.
Part of the problem might be that I cannot see my device in the MobileAdmin
Webtool.

I followed the deployment guide perfectly so Im totally not sure what Im
missing here. I have one Exchange Server and have also followed the article
on the Forms/SSL Vdir workwround.

Any help would be hugely appreciated!

Thanks,
Rory

Also, I have not setup any Device Security in Mobile Services.

Note in the Mobile Admin tool if I search for "Rory" it says:

Could not locate the specified mailbox, verify that you entered the correct
mailbox name.

If I search for "rgillan@domain.com" or just "rgillan" it gives a 403 error:

Re: SP2 Push Mail working... GAL not...
Rory,

The ability to get to the GAL is a very poorly documented capability and I
just played with it and figured out how to use it.

You don't really "see" the GAL. You can, however, search for any part of
the user's name and a list of matches will be displayed for you to select
from. Once you select a name, you can look at the details (various phone
numbers, email address).

Open your contacts list. Choose "Find Online..." from the menu. Type in
the search information and select the "Find" option. (Note that the green
arrow to the right of the search field doesn't initiate a GAL lookup. I
frankly don't understand it's purpose other than to clear the search textbox
before choosing the Find button.) If you want to search again, you click
the "X" to get back to the search textbox or choose "New Search" from the
menu.

You will have the option to send/call the contact as well as add them to
your contacts list. Unfortunately, it only grabs phone and email info, not
address details.

Re: SP2 Push Mail working... GAL not...
Hey Rori,

Can you share with us how you hacked an install of the root certificate?
Did you have to install a personal certificate? If so, how?

Re: SP2 Push Mail working... GAL not...
Hi Robert,

I used a tool called SDA_ApplicationUnlock.exe to unlock the phone so that I
could install any Root certificate.
I think its an HTC Universal (iMate Jasjar) specific tool but I might be
wrong. Check it out on Google.

Once the phone was "unlocked" I then just copied across the certificate to
the device using Activesync and clicked on the certificate to install it.
You can then see the cert lised in Root certificates.

To get the certificate:

If you already have a certificate installed on your webmail and the cert is
linked to your external domain name its easy to get the root cert. With your
browser hit the webmail site, view the certificate by double clicking the
little cert icon go all the way to the top Root cert that your cert is
linked to and then export that to file calling it whatever.cer.

Otherwise speak to your certificate provider and they will send you all of
their Root certificates.

If you dont already have a certificate for your Webmail I would recommend
getting a certificate from a supported WM5 cert co so that you dont have to
go through all the effort. There is a list on the MS site I just cant find
it now.

Hope that helps?
Rory
