Treo 700w and Calendar Corruption
Hey,

I'm assuming this would be a problem with all mobile devices, but I wanted
to specify the Treo 700w in the subject.

I'm having some problems with a client that is getting his calendar
corrupted regularly and I'm not sure why this is happening. It seems that
he is creating the calendar entry on the Treo and syncing up to the Exchange
Server. Then when he does a sync the next time, it acts like it is going to
sync (gives a progress bar on the calendar sync) and then stops gives an
error that it is having a problem contacting the exchange server. (which I
know is bogus).

Is *anyone* else having this problem? Any ideas on how to solve it? Is it
an Exchange problem, Outlook Problem, Treo Problem, or Microsoft Mobile
Problem?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Bob

Re: Treo 700w and Calendar Corruption
Hey,

Let me add something since I've been searching for a solution, just to
answer questions I think people might ask.

I'm using the Exchange Active Sync, so I'm not doing this from a computer,
I'm doing over the Verizon Network. I don't use PST's (you couldn't do this
anyway using the Exchagne Active Sync).

Let me also point out again, this seems to be happening only when he enters
the appointment into the Treo and *then* syncs. This has also happened once
on a contact entry.

Again, any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Bob

Re: Treo 700w and Calendar Corruption
I haven't run across this problem, during the initial sync with exchange are
all the appointments showing up correctly on the treo? Also does the user
have any third party pim software installed? As a test I created an
appointment on my treo 700 and it synced fine to the server. Have you tried
doing a hard reset and start from scratch?

Re: Treo 700w and Calendar Corruption
Thanks for the response.

Yes, I can get an initial sync of all the calendars and it will work for a
while and then I'll get a corruption. At that time it will show a calendar
status 0/15 and then the sync process will stop.

Something interesting today which might be the root of the problem. The
Treo is now not able to sync at all from the Exchange Server...it is giving
me a 0x85010001 error code. This is different than what it was doing
before. Nothing that I know of has changed on the server.

I've check the groups and it seems that many people create the additional
Virtual Directory to solve this problem using the ExchangeVdir key:
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=817379. I initially had this set up and
again it was working for 3 weeks or so and then all of the sudden I'm
getting this error.

If I look in the sync logs on the Treo the error is a "Bad Request" error.
I'm pretty confused on this problem, so any direction for me to look is
appreciated.

Thanks,
Bob

Re: Treo 700w and Calendar Corruption
Try hard resetting the Treo and reinstalling VersaMail. I have seen these
issues before and the only way I resolved it was by doing a hard reset on
the device. You might also try outlook /cleanfreebusy on the users Outlook
Mailbox.

Re: Treo 700w and Calendar Corruption
Sorry, ignore the Versamail portion, only for 650. Still try a hard reset
to see if this helps.

Re: Treo 700w and Calendar Corruption
I have had the same issue only with Contacts. It will get partway
through the sync then quit. A hard reset has been the only fix.
However to avoid a hard reset, I have been able to change the activesync
behavior to sync the contacts with outlook instead of exchange. It
works, but it is not the ideal solution. Hopefully the pending AKU2
update will resolve this problem.

Re: Treo 700w and Calendar Corruption
I believe the upcoming rom update will fix this issue but don't quote me on
that. From what I'm hearing exchange sync on the treo 700w is a crap shoot.
While I haven't had any problems with my treo I have worked with a user in
my office to fix some syncing issues he had. It sounds like the same things
people here are going through. The only thing that seemed to work was to
uncheck all the items from excahnge sync, allow the device to clear off all
the items then bring things back one by one. So far the user hasn't had any
other issues and hopefully it stays that way.
