Direct Push & MSFP not working for me
I have a Sprint PPC6700 that I recently updated the ROM to allow for
DirectPush to work. Also have Exchange 2003 SP2 with Direct Push enabled.
This is a single server setup on Server 2K3 Standard, not SBS. Also using
RPC/HTTPS - used the reg hack to work on single server.

I have installed the cert on the 6700 and can sync via schedule, but I think
something is misconfigured on the Exchange server, either within ESM or IIS
- both on same server. In the device I can activate DirectPush, but within
the ActiveSync application, there is no setting for As they arrive. When I
activate DirectPush on the device, activesync changes the schedule to manual
& no updates ever take place without intervention.

Again, I think I have something misconfigured on my server that will not let
the 6700 know that this option is available & I can't seem to find anything
about what settings should be within IIS (authentication & such).

Thanks.

How do you do that?

There should be. It was there in version 3.x, and it's there in 4.1.
It's been there for a while.

You should see "When new items arrive" as one of the choices in the
schedule (in the ActiveSync app on your desktop and on the device --
when it's not connected to the sync cable). That's not new, it's been
there since 2003/SE.

Check the propertes of the "Mobil Services" object in the "Global
settings" of the Exchange System Manager. Check the "Enable direct
push overHTTP(s)" box.

Re: Direct Push & MSFP not working for me
I have the PPC 6700 also running the MSFP and all is working well...you have
to go into the Comm Manager on the phone, and you will notice that has been
totally revamped...on the bottow center there is an icon with letter icon
for email turn that piece on, then make sure that direct push is setup on
your exchange server...all is working for me...and it is nice..

Re: Direct Push & MSFP not working for me
Hello Andres,
Have you timed how long it takes to get a message to your device once you
receive a email sent to your work email ?

Re: Direct Push & MSFP not working for me
I know I receive messages in seconds, it's very fast and beats outlook for
notifications as well.

That isn't populated until the first sync. WIth SMS push, your
first sync fed the phone number to the server letting it know you
could do that, then "As they Arrive" would show up. With MSFP,
the first sync tells the device if SP2 is on the E2k3 server and
will then switch to the HTTP push.

If he isn't seeing it, then that first sync isn't working
correctly, but reading his message, I don't have a clue where the
problem lies. :-(

Re: Direct Push & MSFP not working for me
Yep, my hip usually lets me know about appointments about 15 seconds sooner
than Outlook, also, 9 out of 10 times, I see email on my 6700 before Outlook
picks it up. Most of us are using Outlook in Exchange Cached Mode by now,
so, that part isn't too shocking, but, overall, it's pretty snappy. Also,
where I live and work, I'm in EVDO during the day, and 1X at night,
everything hums along quite nicely no matter my coverage.
