Exchange 2007 GAL not showing in Outlook
We have Exchange 2007 SP1 and using Outlook 2007. Now it gets odd. We have
multiple sites using one Exchange connected vie VLANS and T1 links. Now two
sites apparently when they hit the address book or the TO in a new email show
no names in the GAL. Have had them try Outlook in both cached and non cached
mode. The GAl properties show them going to an active GC and this is not
happening to all users on this server just this particular site. Any ideas?
They can send and recieve email though.

Thanks!

Re: Exchange 2007 GAL not showing in Outlook
It looks like your users were given a referral for a domain controller other
than where they were supposed to be going too. Also now with Outlook 2007
they will communicate with the closest cas server (with regards to location
of their mbx server). It is also possible that they had problems connecting
to the domain controller previously and had an issue and communicated with
another domain controller.

You will also have to take in to consideration if you changed any
permissions. Clients will fail to resolve names due to permissions issue to
the All Address Lists container and containers below that. Sending and
receiving email is totally different as the email is going to and from the
mailbox / hub server. When you are looking at the gal via the Address List
Icon the Outlook client (in Online Mode) is communicating with the domain
controller via NSPI. In cached mode the client will be using the locally
downloaded OAB files.
