Exchange 2003 SP3 Outlook 2003 SP3 We have a backup POP3/WebMail setup for our Exchange 2003 server. Our configurations are WinXP Pro SP2 with Outlook/Office 2003. We will be taking down our Exchange server for a while for updating some things etc. During this period of time (several days) our emails will be routed to the POP3 server which is offsite. What we need to do is to synchronize the emails that we receive from our POP3 server which are transferred into the client's Outlook 2003 ost (I think) files back into the Exchange server's database when we're ready. How can this be done? POP3 to Outlook and Outlook to Exchange for ALL emails in ALL folders? TIA,

Several days is a long time to take your mail server offline. > our emails > will be routed to the POP3 server which is offsite. > What we need to do is to synchronize the emails that we receive from > our POP3 server which are transferred into the client's Outlook 2003 > ost (I think) files back into the Exchange server's database when > we're ready. > How can this be done? POP3 to Outlook and Outlook to Exchange for ALL > emails in ALL folders? > TIA, There is no "synchronization" - if you use Internet mail in Outlook to connect to the external POP server, it will download the waiting mail into the user's mailbox. However, this is very inefficient and a pain to configure on each client (and remove after you're done). A better solution might be something like POPBeamer - there's an eval available. However, a better option entirely is to avoid POP3 outright, and either have your mail queued up by another server that is configured to do store&forward for your domain's mail (retrying delivery for X days), or simply rely on your senders' mail servers to retry delivery.
Why so long? We're moving very quickly + we're small and we currently don't have a new static IP address where we're going. Tell me more about POPBeamer. So, no sync'g? Bummer? No utilities for synch'g emails back and forth then? Other ideas?
