Exchange emnail import email
Hello,

I have a client who I have recently installed an SBS into their company.

Prior to me installing their own sbs server, they were using hosted exchange
from a company in the UK. So when I came to move the email from the hosted
exchange to SBS I did an export of the mail (from hosted) to a PST file and
then did a import into the sbs server. All seemed to be ok..... However it
seems as if most of the emails have now been converted to plain text even
though before hand they were HTML or RTF. Of course now that they have been
converted to plain text when he replies to them, they stay in plain text and
he cannot change the format.

If he drafts a new email (in HTML or RGF) and sends it to his customers,
they receive it in the same format but when receives thier reply its in
plain text.

He is using Outlook 2007 and Exchange 2003 (SBS). In OL2007 There is an
option under Tools/Trust Center/Email Security which says "Read all standard
email in plain text" this box is NOT checked. so it should not be set to read
them as plain text.

Anyone have any ideas what else to try. ? I am really stumped now..

If you did an import in outlook, that may be part of the problem. It's best
not to import; it can cause problems. Always copy -

Open the PST file in the same profile as the mailbox once you've got the
mailbox open (use file | open | outlook data file)
Expand it
Select the contents of the built-in folders (ctrl+a) and copy them (edit |
copy to folder) to the appropriate folders in the mailbox.
[For calendars, change the view to by category to get an easier table view
so you can do the copy.]
For user-created folders, select the folder itself & then use edit | copy to
folder (and choose the root of the mailbox, or wherever).
Then right-click on the PST file and close it.

For *new* mail you might want to post in microsoft.public.outlook for more
help....that's where the Outlook gurus hang out. You might want to mention
whether others are having the same problem. I'm presuming you set up the SBS
box using all its wizards, and the user got a brand-new Outlook profile when
you installed the server.
