RE: Can't send mail to various ext email addresses with Exchange 2007 with Error: 450 4.5.0 No recipient succeeded
Hello Hobbe,

Thank you for posting here.

From your post, I understand that your mail server cannot send emails to
various email domain.

I suggest you check following setting to see if it helps:

Suggestion 1: Checking Recipient Policies
================
1. Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Microsoft Exchange, and
then click System Manager.
2. Expand Recipients, and then click Recipient Policies.
3. In the right pane, right-click the Default Policy, and then click
Properties.
4. Click the E-Mail Addresses (Policy) tab. Make sure the recipient
policies are correct.
5. Click OK, click Yes, and then click Yes.
6. Quit Exchange System Manager.

Suggestion 2: Check if the PTR record is correct
=======================================
Please contact your ISP to check if the PTR record for your mail server is
correct.

Suggestion 3: Check the FQDN set for the SMTP virtual server:
=================================
Please check if the Fully-qualified Domain Name is correct for the SMTP
virtual server.

Suggestion 4: Contact the problematic domain's administrator to check the
block list
================
In order to keep track of the troubleshooting, I suggest you contact the
problematic domain's administrator to double confirm that your IP address
and domain name are not in their block list.

Suggestion 5: Temporarily disable Antivirus and firewall
=========================================
Please temporarily disable Antivirus and firewall software and then check
if the issue persists.

I hope the above information is helpful to you. If the problem still
occurs, please help me gather following information:

1. Please telnet the receiving domain's server and try to send an email by
using the problematic email domain and let me know the result.

Please refer to the following article for detailed steps:

XFOR: Telnet to Port 25 of IMC to Test IMC Communication
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=153119

Please capture screenshots of all the error messages.

2. Please let me know your email domain. You may send it to me by sending
an email to v-mzhuan@microsoft.com.

3. Please enable SMTP log first, reproduce the issue, then send the log to
v-mzhuan@microsoft.com:

NOTE: Please let me know the recipient's email address and the sender's
email address.

a. Open Exchange System Manager. Navigate to
Servers\ServerName\Protocols\SMTP\Default SMTP virtual server. Right-click
it and choose 'Properties'.

b. In General tab, check 'Enable logging' option. Click 'Properties'
button, enable *ALL* logging options in 'Advanced' tab.

c. Click 'OK' to close the dialog box. Restart the SMTP virtual server.

d. Reproduce the problem (send e-mail through external account). Wait for
10~20 minutes.

e. Go back to the server. Open Windows Explorer and navigate to
%systemroot%\system32\logfiles\smtpsvc1\ Gather the log file and send it to
me.

Please try the above steps at your earliest convenience. If you have any
concern, please feel free to let me know.

Best regards,

Manfred Zhuang(MSFT)

Thx for your reply, I will check these suggestion. But I think it can have
something to do with the FQDN and I tink we must regenerate a new
certificate.

Hobbe
