We use Exchange 2003 (single server); some of our users use Outlook 2000, others use Outlook 2007. I would like to allow Bill to send email as Mary. I want the "From" line on the message to display "From Mary", not "From Bill on behalf of Mary". I have tried setting the permissions everywhere I can think of: In Mary's Outlook I have added Bill as a "Delegate". In AD Users & Computers I have turned on "View Advanced Features" and then explored the Properties of user Mary to give Bill "Send As" permissions. On the Exchange Advanced tab / Mailbox rights I have added Bill and given him Full Control permission. Bill is still denied permission to send mail "from" Mary, unless I go to Exchange General tab and list him as someone authorized to send mail "on behalf of" Mary, in which case he can send, but the message displays the unwanted "on behalf of" text. What am I missing?

Thanks very much. That would be a great article... except that we use Exchange 2003, not 2007. Unfortunately the comparable TechNet book doesn't contain a comparable chapter. And the instructions for using the "Exhcange Management Console" don't seem to have any equivalency in the 2003 "Exchange System Manager". The approach using AD U&C is closer, but we'd already tried that. It looks like we have given the user permission -- they even appear as a delegate. But can they actually Send As? No. Maybe I should ask the question a different way: What is the difference between "Send As" and "Send on behalf of"? If I have both permissions, how do I control which way I am sending a given message? Thanks again! David H.
