main mailserver hosting on Linux - forwarding only one email to ex
Hi,

My domain Company.com (example)'s email is hosted on a Linux box. However
one manager wants to take advantage of Pushmail, and would like to be hosted
on a MS Exchange.

It is impossible for us to migrate all users to Exchange (financial reasons
etc).

Is there a way just to forward all emails to the MS exchange just for this
account? And how should exchange be setup?

One manager wants email so you're investing in an Exchange server and
the base licenses for one person but budget is still an issue? You
know how weird that sounds, right?
It's easily achieved though. Your Linux mail server will presumably be
able to say "For all mail delivered to user@linux.com forward that
mail to user@something-internal.com where "something-internal" is
entirely fictitious and known only to DNS within your network.
Exchange server then has two email addresses on this guys account;
user@linux.com is primary (yes, it is) and user@something-internal.com
is the secondary. You have a recipient policy that allows receipt of
both otherwise the Exchange would just reject. It's entirely up to
you how you deliver mail from Exchange to the outside world.
See:
http://www.msexchange.org/tutorials/Exchange-2003-SMTP-Namespace-Sharing.html
which will help you understand the processes on both sides.

Hi Mark,

Actually we are not going to invest in an entire Exchange Server, but will
be using a managed Exchange hosting (preferably), and it will be outside of
the our network... (to keep the cost low - make sense now ;))

You have other suggestions to tackle the above scenario?

THanks!

If only one user will be using Exchange, what will it be good for?

Exchange does its best when used as a groupware environment... otherwise,
it's just a mail server.

Again, my manager only wants to have push mail functionality, and not about
groupwise/collaboration functions.
