Possible Exchange Database Corruption
I have an Exchange 2003 SP2 server and the other nigh the backup started
failing (Backup Exec) stating:
Access denied to database Mailbox Store (Serv_Name)
Database or database element is corrupt

I am trying to determine if it is really corrupt or not and if so how to fix
it

One note, I am in the process of starting to migrate this server to a new
Exchange 2003 server. I was going to move the mailboxes tonight, but was
concerned now that I dont have a good backup and not sure if there is
corruption.
If I start to move them and there is an issue, I would have to go back 3
days and I wasn't sure of the ramifications of restoring the original
database once some of the mailboxes had been moved, then it would be
restoring mailboxes that now exist on another server??
Thanks

If you move someone and then restore the entire store into the RSG
(only do it into the RSG) then you'll be fine. Only attempt to restore
(backfill) mailboxes you haven't moved.

Re: Possible Exchange Database Corruption
They had wanted to try and fix this prior to migrating the mailboxes
They have a 17GB store, edb about 11.6GB and the STM about 6.6 GB
A Windows NT backup also fails, looks like an issue maybe in the STM
The system is up and running at the moment
I wanted to review what I should run, was thinking the eseutil /p eseutil /d
and isinteg -fix?
They do not do circular logging so they have logs back til the last good
backup last week
Would I make a copy of the entire MDB folder (databases and logs) prior to
running the utilities? Is this sufficient to get back to where they are if
the utils have issues?
Would I also need to exmerge mailboxes in case of issues?
Any idea of the average amount of time to run these utilities against a
database this size?
Thanks
