NTBackup of Exchange
Hi,

I need your help to get something confirmed.

That Is when using NTBackup In Windows Server 2003, Is it Exchange aware and
creates online backups of Exchange and information store etc?

Ive been living by the fact that It Is and I stumbled on a user recently
that claims the opposit.

I would appreciate if someone could clarify this for me and maybe provide me
with some reources on this scenario.

Many thanks In advance

Yes, if it's on an Exchange server, or a Windows server on which you've
installed the Exchange management tools. You can see this yourself - if you
launch NTBackup, you'll see options for Exchange server.

Ask them to provide you with evidence for this claim. :-)

The version of ntbackup that comes with Windows 2003 is not
Exchange-aware. When you install the Exchange management tools (Exchange
System Manager for Exchange 2000/2003 or the Exchange Management Console
for Exchange 2007), part of the installation is a set of DLLs that
extends ntbackup to make it Exchange-aware. So, you and your user are
both right :)

Cheers,

Lanwench / Paul

Many thanks!

That cleared my confusion even though the solution of how to get It "aware"
was not the way i thaught.
I been searching a wile on the Internet and realy dont find the info on this
subject anywere.

I was both right and wrong, most important, i was right ;-) just
kidding... this gives some to labb with ...

Thanks again
