I have our Exchange 07 Server setup for POP3 users can connect usign POP3 internally, but not externally. Is there something I have to configure on the Exchange 2007 Server to allow POP3 clients to connect from an external computer?

I have figured out the POP3 issue. Is there somthing I have to enable though for SMTP to work externally. I can telnet port 110 for POP3 now but cannot telnet port 25 externally but I can internally. - Does your Receive Connector allow anonymous SMTP? Exchange Server 2007: Internet email without Edge servers http://exchangepedia.com/blog/2006/07/exchange-server-2007-internet-email.html I generally create a separate Receive Connector to receive inbound internet mail - allow only anonymous SMTP (no authentication). - Does the firewall allow inbound SMTP to the server? -- Bharat Suneja MVP - Exchange www.zenprise.com NEW blog location: exchangepedia.com/blog ---------------------------- "Dan" wrote in message news:5A57DB27-2F94-42B3-BB22-66828D0D9FF0@microsoft.com... >I have figured out the POP3 issue. Yes I do. It is working now. Turned out the ISP at my home and at a coworkers home blocks telneting on port 25. grrrrr. So I wasted 2 hours trying to figure this out when nothing was wrong and I had configured it correct to start with. Why do ISPs block port 80 and 25? I pay monthly for the internet and I expect the whole internet at my home not just parts of it so when I do remote into my home server I can use it to test stuff at work. They generally block 25 so that users' workstations aren't turned into spam engines. You might want to suggest that your external POP users use their ISPs' SMTP servers to send their outbound mail. -- Ed Crowley MVP - Exchange "Protecting the world from PSTs and brick backups!" Don't actually have POP3 users just testing and we use FrontBridge so only MS FrontBridge IP is allowed to connect to the Exchange once in production. I would think that would be best restricted by your firewall. -- Ed Crowley MVP - Exchange "Protecting the world from PSTs and brick backups!"
