Recovering from a PRIV1.EDB + PRIV1.STM
Hi there,

A company which was not a client of ours had a hard disk crash
(SBS2003 R2 with Exchange 2003 SP2).

They didn't have backups !

However, they got lucky, and we were able to recover the entire
MDBDATA.

We've set up a new server with the same server name and domain name.

Can we recover by marking the current DB with "Can be overwritten by
a restore", then dismounting, then putting back the recovered MDBDATA
folder ?

Or is there a different way of doing it ?

Thanks.
Karl

That should do it. You will need to run Clean Up Agent on the Database when
its mounted then reconnect the mailboxes.

Re: Recovering from a PRIV1.EDB + PRIV1.STM
Thanks John. All done.

As no-one had come back I did a little more research and this link
came up way down but saved us :

http://www.answersthatwork.com/Library_pages/exchange_2003.htm

There were two things I was missing the first time I tried, Cleanup
Agent which you mention as well, but the killer for us was the 18GB
limit which we'd completely overlooked.

Thanks for the help.

Karl
