Exchange shortcut
Hello,

We are developing an archive application to work with Exchange, and
this application will run on the exchange server. When we archive an
email on the exchange server, we will replace it with a shortcut,
similar to what is done by other archive applications.

We want to have Outlook not know about the shortcut. So, when Outlook
goes to retrieve an archived email that has been stubbed from the
exchange server, the exchange server will go to our archive appliance
and retrieve the actual email and return it to the client. In other
words, we won't have a plugin on the client - the server will handle
the stubbed files.

What technology or set of technologies would be best to accomplish
this task, and are there any issues we need to take into account with
this method of retrieving shortcutted emails?

Thanks in advance,

Charles
