IIFP for Exch 2007 <-> Exch 2003 Sync?
Hi all,
I've been reading around in prep for our unique directory sync requirements,
and am wondering still if IIFP can be used to sync the GALs. My scenario
briefly:

New forest and org:
- Exch 2007 SP1 on Win 2008
- Forest is based on Windows 2008 Active Directory

Old forest and org:
- Exch 2003 SP2 on Win 2003
- Forest based on Windows Server 2003 AD (Win 2003 functional level)

Key point: both the orgs above uses the same primary SMTP address
"companyXX.com" (!). Its going be a transitionary approach but one stretched
long. Using a mail routing approach that will have to make both orgs NOT
authoritative for their respective primary SMTP name space. Mails to
interconnect using inter-forest SMTP connector.

I read that ILM is preferred now for dir sync but that'll cost us quite a
lot for a relatively small user base totalling just 5000. Can IIFP still be
used in this mix of new platforms?

If not, might there be a base script I can work from to periodically do
export and import of the GAL entries?

Thank you very much in advance for any tips/pointers.
Cheers!

GALSync (From MIIS IIFP 1a) works.

How to Transition from Cross-Forest to Cross-Forest

Re: IIFP for Exch 2007 <-> Exch 2003 Sync?
Thank you Bharat,
A few more quick questions.... :-)

You mentioned specifically IIFP "1a". Why is that so and not version 2
instead? I'm just about setting up a test environment this week to check out
IIFP. Is version "1a" still available to be downloaded anywhere?

I also read that this "IIFP" is now also "Active Directory Metadirectory
Services (AD MS)" in Windows Server 2008. Is this AD MS functionally an
option I can use to do GALsync with another forest that runs on Windows
Server 2003 AD and Exchange 2003?

I'll have to test them out this week to understand the options but I thought
I'd get some tips first to get me on the right foot early.

Many thanks Bharat.

My apologies, I meant IIFP "SP2" :-)
