REMOVAL OF EXCHANGE 2003 FROM ROOT DOMAIN
A Parent(root) domain(2003) has the first Exchange 2003 Server Installed. The
second Exchange server 2003 is installed in a child domain. There is only one
Exchange site. Winthin Exchange System Manager I can see the one site with
the two Exchange servers. What is the exact procedure to remove the Exchange
installation from the first (root) domain? Will this disrupt the second
Exchange server in the child domain?

Re: REMOVAL OF EXCHANGE 2003 FROM ROOT DOMAIN
Hi there,

Follow this kb: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/822931

Removal of the first Exchange Server in your parent domain will not cause
issues for your Exchange Servers in your childs. The Schema (/forestprep) is
only extended the once (it's a per Forest operations role) and will not have
to be done again, and your child domain is already prepared (/domainprep) as
Exchange is already installed and working.

Following the above article is all you need to do.
