Two physical and logical sites each has: 1 Edge Transport server with internet connection 1 Hub/CAS server Incoming mail is controlled via MX record preference and works like a charm. Is there way to automatically forward outbound mail to a Hub or an Edge in the secondary site if the Hub/Edge in the primary site is not available? Or do I need to add more servers to the primary site to ensure high availability?
You can have multiple Hub Transport servers and it will use the lesser cost route. If your primary HT server is unavailable it will use the secondary in the other site. -- Richard Rodgers M3 PostMasters M3PostMasters@nospam.m3tg.com M3 Technology Group www.m3tg.com "Dima" wrote in message news:4090E635-2FD6-4395-B1FB-7D0D5D99484B@microsoft.com... > Two physical and logical sites each has: > > 1 Edge Transport server with internet connection > 1 Hub/CAS server > > Incoming mail is controlled via MX record preference and works like a > charm. > > Is there way to automatically forward outbound mail to a Hub or an Edge in > the secondary site if the Hub/Edge in the primary site is not available? > > Or do I need to add more servers to the primary site to ensure high > availability?
I have tried shutting down the HT server in the primary site and the mail did not flow through the second site. I did not look in to the logs assuming that mail will not flow to the secondary site. but I will investigate it further. Also what are my options with the Edge transport servers? Can I subscribe both of them to both sites? "M3 PostMasters" wrote: > You can have multiple Hub Transport servers and it will use the lesser cost > route.
