Outgoing mail flow
Situation:

Mulitple AD sites, in every site 2 or more hubs, no edge....when user in one
site sends mail to internet user, does that goes directly from mailbox to hub
server in that AD site and then HUB sends that mail directly through it's
default gateway or through hub server where connectors are defined?
Or defined connectors doesn't count on exact server, but for all hub
servers? and every hub sends internet mail directly through default gateway?

Tnx!

There were loads of question marks but not many questions I could pick
up. Let me see if I can answer all of them for you:

The MB in site A will send to the HT in site A. The HT in site A will
send to the HT in site B. The MB in site A will never send to the HT
(or even MB) in site B.

The default gateway has got nothing to do with anything unlless you've
only got one gateway IP address and in that case it's still got
nothing to do with it because the server can only route to one
address. If you have multiple gateways then the server will work out
the route to use because you'll have told it to route traffic for
subnet x through address y and everything else goes through the
default, or address z.

Ok, routing beetwen AD sites is clear to me...but main concern is when mail
goes to internet mail address...
For example, no edhe transport servers...when user in AD site A sends mail
to internet mail address...does the HUB in that AD site A sends that mail
directly to the internet ?

Look on the send connector. There will be nominated HT servers that do
the sending. If you're in an AD site that is not listed in the send
connector the sending HT will get it to a server (using the AD sites
architecture to route the message) that is listed on the send
connector.

You're asking a lot of questions here. Are you doing the design or has
someone let you down with one and you're trying to pick up the
wreckage?

Tnx Mark, I will check that.
Exchange '07 is new for me, and we are planing migration from 2k3 to 2k7.
I'm bulding test desing to so see how things work. All those questions that I
ask are not covered in MOCs, and it seems that they should be 'cos those are
really importatn ones...you agree?:)

tnx again :)
