Hello everyone, In one of our clients we have a E2k3 Standard. We would like to know if we can use another E2k3 Standard as a front-end for this one. This front-end would be located in a DMZ. Thanks in advance, Filipe Matias

Who has suggested you could or should and what where their reasons for suggesting it?

Hi, It was sugested to be used as a "realy" for the back-end since they use Sophos Pure Message and fore its deployment it should use a server as relay to seperate the internal from external messages and it was to be put on the dmz so that the back-end server would not access directly the outside world. It would not be used for OWA or any other service.
Then you do not want to spend money on an Exchange licence when the Windows Server 2003 SMTP service is all you need. This can nicely go into the DMZ.
