I've a question regarding Exchange 2007 . As the Edge server role could not be installed on the same server as the other roles , I wonder if is mandatory to have an edge server in the organization ,it's quite difficult to explain to customer they would need at least 2 server , and if the edge server requires X64 systems . Thanks Stefano
Hi, It is not mandatory to have an edge server. You can either use another type of SMTP scanner or use the HUB server as SPAM filter. No, the Edge Server role *is not required*. The only roles required are Mailbox Server, Hub Transport Server, and Client Access Server - all of these can be installed on the same server to replicate single-server scenarios before Exchange Server 2007. -- Bharat Suneja MVP - Exchange www.zenprise.com NEW blog location: exchangepedia.com/blog ---------------------------------------------- "Stefano Colombo" wrote in message news:1ACB1F81-51F7-45E9-8EAE-776B4AA2FDA2@microsoft.com... > I've a question regarding Exchange 2007 . > As the Edge server role could not be installed on the same server as the > other roles , I wonder if is mandatory to have an edge server in the > organization ,it's quite difficult to explain to customer they would need > at least 2 server , and if the edge server requires X64 systems . > Thanks > Stefano >
