Hello all, I receive the following error after creating a policy to exempt mailboxes from our mailbox manager policy. One mailbox manager policy is for setting a retention period for mesages to expire after a predetermined amount of time. The second policy is for exempting mailboxes we don't want to fall under the first. The exclusion policy is set highest (1), with the normal retention policy set at 2. Whenever I try to apply the exemption policy, I receive the following: Exchange System Manager The specified directory service attribute or value already exists. Facility: LDAP Provider ID no: 8007200d Exchange System Manager I referenced MSKB article 821743, but removing entries in the gatewayProxy attribute doesn't make a difference. Same error. Have also tried moving the RUS service to another server. No luck there either. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.
You don't need to set the exclusion policy if you have the filter set on the retention policy correctly. Only one mailbox policy can be applied per mailbox. If you filter the retention policy to only apply to user accounts you so designate then you won't need to apply the exclusion policy at all as they won't have .
