two exchange organizations on disparate domains share the GAL
I would like to have two exchange organizations on disparate domains share
the GAL and exchange as much collaboration as possible such as instant
messaging.

I understand I can create a VPN between them and create manual trusts but if
it all possible I would like to avoid creating any trusts for political
reasons.

If I do have to create trusts then I would like to design it in such a way
that only the GAL is shared as a resource and any other means of
collaboration that Exchange could offer like public folders etc.

One Domain is Windows 2003 / Exchange 2003 organization and the other Domain
is Windows 2000 / Exchange 2000

Both on different geographical locations.

I also would like to know if I can extract the GAL from one system and
import it into another system so at a minimum I can run weekly batch jobs of
extracting the GAL and importing the GAL between each other as separate
address books so each organization can lookup the other organizations email
and contact information.

Any Microsoft documentation would be great as reference and thanks to all
those who look at my post and help

Kind regards,

John

Re: two exchange organizations on disparate domains share the GAL
GALSync in MIIS Feature Pack to synchronize GALs (can be scripted, but
painful and one-time dump, not a true synch like MIIS)
Rod Fournier has step-by-step instructions on his blog
http://msmvps.com/clustering/archive/2004/10/06/15141.aspx

InterOrg Replication Tool to be able to see free/busy (and replicate other
public folders if required).

Will require trusts to be established.
