Stop respondins
Hi

I have exchange 2000 server running on windows advanced server 2000 with
sp4. This runs as a member server & have two network interfaces to balance
the network traffic. From few days ago it happens to stop deliverying mails
suddenly without any service getting down. In the event log there is some
browser warning being generated. The specific message was "The browser was
unable to retrieve a list of servers from the browser master \\CW-SRV-01 on
the network \Device\NetBT_Tcpip_{A3245834-4667-40D1-BB27-B57EC4259F46}. The
data is the error code. " Other than it there is nothing to Check. When it
is rebooted again works for sometime.

please help

Thank You

This doesn't sound like an Exchange issue to me; you may be better off
posting in microsoft.public.windows.server.networking. That said:, unless
your network cards support teaming, I'm not a fan of multiple NICs in
servers. And the browser election messages shouldn't have anything to do
with your mail delivery - that's NetBIOS stuff. But if you want to be able
to browse, you should install WINS on one of your DCs, point everyone at the
WINS server IP, and stop/disable the Computer Browser service on all
workstations.

Thank you for the reply

browser issue is the most close issue tha I can highlight with this server
issue. Will you tell me what can cause exchange to stop responding without
any event in the log?

No, sorry, not with so little info, although it does sound like you've got
some underylying network problems. Perhaps if you identify and correct them
(with my advice or that of the people in the group I directed you to) you
will find that the Exchange problems disappear.
