EXCH 03sp2 on SBS 03 with one nic behind cbeyond's cicso router and a netgear router. Port 25 forwarded through both routers to a private IP. We have a PTR. Everything has been working fine for over 2 years. Just in the last week or so senders from AOL and now Cbeyond to us get 4.4.7 and 4.4.1 NDR messages like this one: hj@e1577.b.akamaiedge.net>... Deferred: Connection timed out with e1577.b.akamaiedge.net. Message could not be delivered for 3 hours Message will be deleted from queue Final-Recipient: RFC822; hj@e1577.b.akamaiedge.net Action: failed Status: 4.4.7 Remote-MTA: DNS; e1577.b.akamaiedge.net Last-Attempt-Date: Mon, 28 Apr 2008 12:46:38 -0400 (EDT) I believe the address "hj@e1577.b.akamaiedge.net" refers to the intended recipient on my server who's address is really "hj@mydomain.net" (not akami.) So far as I know there is no PIX/Mailgaurd on Cbeyond's router. However I have several other Cbeyond customers with similar setups and none have had this same problem. I upgraded the firmware on the Netgear with no effect. If I can clarify anything don't hesitate, any help would be appreciated.
i have the same problem. i use enom as a forwarder to my verizon account. i also use outlook for email
I thought you people might like to know this turned out not to be an Exchange issue. Apparently, the company that hosted our domain was bought out by Enom. When that happened they changed an A record in the DNS for a parked www website we had which in turn caused the akamiedge issue and threw off certain mail servers including AOL's. I only put this together by finding this A record and running a reverse DNS on it which pointed to something with akami in it. When I called Enom they knew about the issue and fixed it for me. Lesson learned? Beware of cheap fly-by-nite hosting companies and regularly check DNS records (even if they are "locked") "davidgold" wrote: > EXCH 03sp2 on SBS 03 with one nic behind cbeyond's cicso router and a netgear > router.
