Hi I deployed a new exchange 2007, single forrest and domain with an existing exchange 2003 server. I can send/receive emai from exchange 2007 test accounts to exchange 2003 users, but cannot send any mail outside the network. I can receive outside email to the Exchange 2007 test accounts, but cannot send. Is Exchange 2003 suppose to act as the SMTP relay out of the network for the Exchange 2007 server? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
Hi what is the scope of your SMTP address space at your Exchange 2003 internet mail connector? is it Routing Group? that would explain your problem. Your Exchange 2007 is located in another routing group. The IMC must be scoped globally. Hi, Exchange 2003 server is named mail1 Exchange 2007 server is named mail On server MAIL -- I have a hub transport send connector called Internet Mail SMTP Connector configured to Route mail through the following Smart Host - MAIL1.<domain name> On Server mail -- I have two connectors - one is a Internet Mail SMTP connector that has been since Exchange 2003 was installed. The other one is a routing group that was created with the Exchange 2007 server was installed called DWBGZMFD01QNBJR). I'm not sure what else I need. Thanks! I did get a message back: #550 4.4.7 QUEUE.Expired; message expired in unreachable destination queue. Reason: A matching connector cannot be found to route the external recipient ## "Henry" wrote: > Hi > what is the scope of your SMTP address space at your Exchange 2003 internet > mail connector? is it Routing Group? that would explain your problem. > > Your Exchange 2007 is located in another routing group. Hi To find the setting I refer to you should use the Exchange System Manager at server mail1 expand the First Administrative Group (or what ever your Exchange 2003 admin group is named) expand the routing group where your Exchange 2003 server is contained look at the details of your Internet Mail Connector. At the "Address Space" tab is a radio button to select the scope of the connector. This is for whole Organization or Routing Group only. Your Connector should be scoped to the Organization to be usable in the Exchange 2007 routing group. Unreachable destination means that your Exchange Server doesn't know about the smtp:* address space at the Exchange 2003 connector. Hi -- and thank you for the instructions. I checked the address space and it was already set to the entire organization and not to the routing group. I did notice that next to address space, there was a "connected Routing Group" tab that does not have any entries. Anything else you can suggest I look at? Thanks!
