odd OWA problem
As there doesn't seem to be a specific area for OWA problems I've posted this
here.

Exchange 2003 on Serever 2003. As only a few users make use of OWA I am not
sure how long this problem has been occurring but I know it is very recent
and possibly since the last Hotfixes releases of KB948590, KB948881 &
KB941693.

Ok the problem - If using IE to access OWA then once you have entered
username & password in the left-hand folders pane you can see the names of
all the folders and the number of unread messages e.g. Inbox(6) etc BUT in
the right-hand pane where you should see the list of messages all you get is
"There are no items to show in this view"

The odd thing is if you select calender you can see the entries ok. Select
any 'mail' folder such as Inbox or Sent Items and the right hand pane says
"There are no items to show in this view"

It's the same when you access public folders.

From outside the system if you use Mozilla Firefox you can see all the
messages correctly. From inside the system OWA also appears to work ok.

So, the problem seems to be when in rich-mode to accesses from outside of
the LAN, reach mode seems to be fine.

We have a number of people who do need to be able to read their mail when
they are out of the office so I need to resolve this.

I have tried removing the three W2K3 hotfixes KB948590, KB948881 & KB941693
and rebooted but that didn't resolve it.

I have searched the knowledge base and the Internet for OWA related problems
but have not found anything like this. The syetm is behind a WatchGuard
Firebox but nothing has been changed on that.

If anyone has any cluse I'd be much obliged.

RE: odd OWA problem
An update. I followed the following article and made the registry change
contained in the srticle:-

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/296232/EN-US/

Now OWA is working ok with IE but obviously only in basic mode which fits in
with what I noted in my original post.

RE: odd OWA problem
I think I have now resolved this problem. It WAS a Watchguard Firebox problem
but not the one protecting the mailserver. I tracked it down to the Firebox
on the other network from where the PCs were connecting.

I have checked that Firebox and although WebDav is enabled on the http
proxy, PCs on that LAN cannot see the messages when they should be able to. I
can now concentrate on that and Exchange is in the clear.
