MS Exchange 2003 not receiving emails
Hi,
I am running MS Win SBS 2003 with Exchange 2003. ( new installation ) behind
a netopia 3000 router.
Users are able to send emails but not to receive.
I have the mx record and reverse dns setup and in place.
Trying to telnet the server to port 25 fails . Actually the cursor in the
telnet session blinks all the time. Telnet from the internal network is ok.

Any ideas?

Thanks very much,
Pete

Did you set up a rule in your Netopia to forward TCP 25 to your Exchange
server's LAN IP? You need to.

If so, can you telnet (from the outside) on port 25 to your public IP and
get the Exchange banner?

If not, check with your ISP that they aren't doing port blocking. If they
are, you may not have a "business-class" account and perhaps are not
supposed to be running a server.

If you can telnet using your public IP, but not the name/A record set in
your MX record, there's a problem with your public DNS.

Re: MS Exchange 2003 not receiving emails
Sorry, but forgot to say that I am using the SBS Server in a multihomed
configuration ( 2 nics )
Thanks,
pete

OK - but what about my questions for you? Those still apply.

Note for future reference that SBS questions are best posted in
m.p.windows.server.sbs (it often does things its own way).
