Rename Exchange Cluster Group?
Is renaming the Exchange Cluster Group(s) within an Exchange 2003 cluster
supported or do I need to uninstall Exchange from the cluster to do rename?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Rename Exchange Cluster Group?
Renaming the cluster groups should not be an issue - this is for display.
Since these are not user-facing, there shouldn't be any business-critical
need to rename.

You could change the name of the group that has the EVS. Howver, renaming
the EVS (value of Network Name resource) is not supported. You would need to
remove the EVS (make sure users are moved, PFs replicated - this is like
removing the Exchange server) and create a new one.

Re: Rename Exchange Cluster Group?
When our Clusters were created, a generic name (i.e., "Exchange cluster
group1") was used and using a command line cluster command is more difficult.
Naming a cluster group more descriptive (i.e., "Exchange Cluster <name>"
makes it easier to remember.

Our physical server names and virtual cluster names are related so figuring
which one to get to is not difficult, just remembering which cluster group to
use was. We use the same name, with different suffixes for the names such as
00V for the Cluster, 01P - 04P for the physical nodes, and 01V - 03V for the
virtual server node suffixes. We use the first digit to identify the cluster
and increment the first digit for other clusters (i.e., 00V; 10V; 20V, etc)
and increment the second digit for each node in the cluster.

As a result, with the Cluster Group renamed, we can use "Exchange Cluster
01V" for the group hosting Exchange server 01V on the primary physical node
of 01P, in Cluster 00V which make a command line for cluster admin very easy
to control any server.

Thanks
