Question about SCR ( site Resiliency with Standby Clustring )
Hi,

Would i just need to install Exchange 2007 SP1 server as a Passive node if
wanting to build the SCR target in a Site Resiliency with Standby Clustering
?

Just wanted to verify the installation procedure for a server to be the SCR
target of a CCR cluster and not wanting to use DB portability, but rather
Site Resiliency as described by
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb738150(EXCHG.80).aspx

Can't find a document other than this that described the Exchange 2007 SP1
installation procedure, not the activation...

Thanks !!!

Re: Question about SCR ( site Resiliency with Standby Clustring )
- Create cluster (even single-node cluster will allow you tou use
/RecoverCMS)
- Install Exchange, do not create CMS.

Re: Question about SCR ( site Resiliency with Standby Clustring )
Ok thanks,
So cluster would be single node, with local quorum I guess...
But for the exchange installation, what do I select... ( passive node or
??? )

thanks !!!

Re: Question about SCR ( site Resiliency with Standby Clustring )
Ok, found the answers, so doing a single node Majority Quorum cluster...

During Exchange 2007 SP1 install, it tells me that the host has only 1 NIC,
and this config is not supported in production for failover, but since this
is a single node cluster, do I really need to have 2 Nic's configured, even
tough they will never be another node there, so no one to talk to...

Thanks !!!

Re: Question about SCR ( site Resiliency with Standby Clustring )
If you want to skip the cluster thing you could depend on database
portability for recovery.

Re: Question about SCR ( site Resiliency with Standby Clustring )
Yep, but where the client's desktop are not on OL2007 and no plans to go
there anytime soon, in the architecture, I decided to use Standby cluster
for SCR instead of Database Portability for the corporate site... Using DP
for remote smaller site...

Thanks for your help!!!

Re: Question about SCR ( site Resiliency with Standby Clustring )
The Public and Private/Heartbeat NICs need to be separate. Add another NIC.

Re: Question about SCR ( site Resiliency with Standby Clustring )
Let me rephrase - it's not recommended to install using a single NIC.

Re: Question about SCR ( site Resiliency with Standby Clustring )
Ok, but since this will be a Single node cluster, with whom will it talk on
the private node ?

If this is just because how MS Cluster was designed, I understand it and
will add the NIC.

But just want to know why if it won't ever be used ...

Thanks !!!
