Re: How to move Microsoft Search Service on an Exchange cluster
Yep, I saw this article, but was very hesitant to Delete the system
attendant resource...
Is there a way to do it without having to delete the system attendant. The
environment has about 35000 users spread on 5 nodes, so was hesitant to do a
drastic step like this...
P.S. Even with this procedure, can I change the drive letter that MS Search
is running on, instead of for example the L: drive that use to be the
original drive for EVS Stores/MS Search on SAN, use the J: drive that is on
the new SAN.
Thanks very much !!!

Re: How to move Microsoft Search Service on an Exchange cluster
The information is stored in active directory. When you recreate the SA, it
pulls the config.
If the files still exist somewhere, you have a couple of other options.
Without the gatherer logs, this is really the only way.

Re: How to move Microsoft Search Service on an Exchange cluster
Well, one other way I was thinking was to bring the EVS down, bring back up
the Disk resources, to an offline copy ( using Robocopy ) with all
permissions and directory structure, then interchange the Disk resource
drive letter to have the new drive take over the old drive letter, and bring
things back up...
But I was told by someone that they had tried that on a different Exchange
2003 cluster and ran into problems, although, I have no description of what
problems...
Thanks !!!

Re: How to move Microsoft Search Service on an Exchange cluster
If you offline copy all the gatherer logs in the right place, it's simpler:
