I upgraded to a new Exchange 2007 Enterprise server at the main office. Now my CIO wants me to setup a another Excahnge 2007 Enterprise Server at a COLO as a cluster for failover if the Exchange 2007 Server at the Main office has a power outage or network outage. With CCR I am required to use the Exchange 2007 Enterprise Server at the HUB trasport Server and cluster 2 new Windows 2003 Enterprise R2 Servers. node. Question; Can I somehow just use the Exchange 2007 Enterprise Server at the Main Office and cluster it with only 1 Windows 2003 Enterprise R2 Server at the COLO ? Is there a method for a Exchange 2007 Enterprise Server and 1 other mirrored server ? ----== Posted via Newsfeeds.Com - Unlimited-Unrestricted-Secure Usenet News==---- http://www.newsfeeds.com The #1 Newsgroup Service in the World! 120,000+ Newsgroups ----= East and West-Coast Server Farms - Total Privacy via Encryption =----

Answer: No. Because the current Exchange server is already operational. You can't do anything cluster-wise with it. If you do need live and automatic failover then CCR is indeed the thing to use. I assume your current server is doing MB CAS and HT as that's a sensible assumption given your current question. You can establish a node in each of your locations. You would have to engage your network guys to stretch the subnet between the two buildings and obviously make sure you have sufficient GC service in the other location and obviously enough bandwidth to provide email service to the users. Remember that it takes less bandwidth to replicate the log files than it does to deliver email service to client devices (the number of times people flap about bandwidth just to replicate is unbelievable). > >Is there a method for a Exchange 2007 Enterprise Server and 1 other mirrored >server ? Yes indeed. You can implement SCR if you wish. Have you looked on microsoft.com or googled yet? If not, SCR or "Standby Continuous Replication" is what you could look for to see a solution that does not require a complete rebuild of the existing. > >----== Posted via Newsfeeds.Com - Unlimited-Unrestricted-Secure Usenet News==---- >http://www.newsfeeds.com The #1 Newsgroup Service in the World! 120,000+ Newsgroups >----= East and West-Coast Server Farms - Total Privacy via Encryption =----
If you don't require automated failover to the COLO, then I'd look at SCR. wrote in message news:1206553873_5216@news.newsfeeds.com... >I upgraded to a new Exchange 2007 Enterprise server at the main office.
