We have numerous unstable X7 clusters and have noticed they were deployed with all NIC's including Heatbeat NIC's set to Auto negotiate Speed and duplex. I see some older KB's suggesting this may cause instability. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/174812/ http://support.microsoft.com/kb/892422/en-us Could this be contributing to Cluster failovers and instability? Thanks

I have seen this as the source of problems in the past, and I highly recommend hard coding the speed and duplex settings for all NICs. -- Russ Kaufmann MVP - Windows Server - Clustering ClusterHelp.com, a Microsoft Certified Gold Partner Web http://www.clusterhelp.com Blog http://msmvps.com/clusterhelp The next ClusterHelp classes are: Mar 10- 13 in Denver May 12-15 in New York
Also ensure your Network and Cluster communication priorities have been set correctly on top of configuring fixed NIC speed and duplex. Oliver > I have seen this as the source of problems in the past, and I highly > recommend hard coding the speed and duplex settings for all NICs.
