I am planning on Exchange 2007 SP1 on Windows 2008 with CCR. In Windows 2003 cluster, FWS can be located in a network share. In Windows 2008, it has been changed and it has been called "witness disk or quorum disk". My questions are (1) Can I still use a network share for "witness disk"? (2) I need two external shared storage in order to run EX2007 SP1. If I use one of the shared external storage for "witness disk", do I need to have 'witness disk" on the other shared storage space? Thanks in advance. Kevin
Use Node and File Share Majority (for clusters with special configurations)This is the equivalent of Majority Node Set with File Share Witness in Windows Server 2003 -- Bharat Suneja MVP - Exchange www.zenprise.com NEW blog location: exchangepedia.com/blog ---------------------------- "Kevin Zhang" wrote in message news:9FD30C07-52F8-4211-8C35-A4F1AC237A96@microsoft.com... > I am planning on Exchange 2007 SP1 on Windows 2008 with CCR. For CCR on Windows Server 2008, you want to use a Node and File Share Majority quorum. See http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb676571(EXCHG.80).aspx. CCR does not use any shared storage (either for the quorum, or for Exchange). You need storage that is connected to each node and not managed by the cluster. -- Regards, Scott Schnoll Microsoft Corporation This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights. Thanks for the answer. Node and File Share Majority Quorum is the way to go in Windows 2008. How much data are hold on quorum disk? Does CCR keeps a copy of qurum data on other external storage too? In another words, is quorum disk mirrored on the other storage. Sorry I am new to this topic. Thanks for the answer. The article is very helpful. Is the quorum disk is also replicated by CCR? I posted this question under Bharat Suneja's reply. > Thanks for the answer. The article is very helpful. Is the quorum disk > is also replicated by CCR? There is no Quorum disk (so it is not replicated, it does not exist)
- CCR has nothing to do with quorum. It's an Exchange server replication feature. - With the Node and File Share Majority Quorum, each node keeps a local copy of the quorum. The File Share is brought in to vote when a majority cannot be formed. - There's no requirement for a quorum disk. -- Bharat Suneja MVP - Exchange www.zenprise.com NEW blog location: exchangepedia.com/blog ---------------------------- "Kevin Zhang" wrote in message news:8F7B46F1-B9A1-41E9-AA0B-26C3FC293DD1@microsoft.com... > Thanks for the answer.
