Hi Can anyone confirm the following: How many nodes ( active and passive ) can you have with Windows 2008 Enterprise? Am I correct in saying that it support more flexible quorum models than Window 2003, and it also supports clusters on different IP subnets. Many Thanks Nick
2008 is going to support 16 node clusters. You are correct in saying that it will offer more flexible quorum models and will also support nodes on different subnets. There are some great webcasts coming up over the next couple of weeks. The 32-bit version will support 8 nodes and the 64-bit version will support up to 16 nodes. > Am I correct in saying that it support more flexible quorum models > than Window 2003, Yes. It supports a few different quorum models. You can read a little bit more about that here: http://msmvps.com/blogs/clusterhelp/archive/2007/06/12/windows-server-2008-failover-clustering-the-new-quorum-model.aspx > and it also supports clusters on different IP > subnets. That is also correct, but you need a storage environment that will also support multi-site clusters. -- Russ Kaufmann MVP - Windows Server - Clustering ClusterHelp.com, a Microsoft Certified Gold Partner Web http://www.clusterhelp.com Blog http://msmvps.com/clusterhelp The next ClusterHelp classes are: Mar 10- 13 in Denver May 12-15 in New York
I believe Exchange however still only goes to 8 nodes for SCC even with the 64bit version of Windows 2008. Oliver
Further, Windows 2008 supports cluster nodes in different AD sites, Exchange 2007 does not support this feature. However with Windows 2008 cluster nodes can be on different subnets - however the same AD site is a must. This is for both CCR and SCC clustering technologies. Oliver
