Recommendations for Clustering?
All,
We are a small organization with currently one dedicated exchange 2007 box
here in the USA. We have ~10 offices overseas in the EMEA area. We have
recently started centralizing control of email and other IT resources. In
doing so I have been putting many of our overseas people onto our exchange
server. They access the server via owa and rpc/http.

I would like to provide some redundancy and allow for better speeds by
putting another exchange box overseas.
Ideally I would like to have a replica or cluster sever, as we have a number
of people who travel back and forth between the states and our other
offices, but I could just do another storage group.

What might be the best option for me? I know about CCR, SCR and etc, but
have never used them and am not sure what my best options are.

My basic idea this point is the wan link will be a point to point VPN via
cisco ASAs using 2-3Mbps internet connections.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Re: Recommendations for Clustering?
Given the cost of implementing a CCR cluster (no shared storage or
cluster-certified hardware), CCR for local/same datacenter, and SCR to
remote datacenter.

Neither will provide you load-balancing, or allow a mailbox to be accessed
from multiple locations locallys (e.g. you can't have UserA's mailbox on
ServerA, replicate that to ServerB in remote datacenter, and have it locally
accessible from ServerB as well... ).

Alternatively, you can place a Storage Group with remote users on ServerB,
so it's locally available to those users, and replicate it using SCR to
ServerA in your primary datacenter, where ServerA also hosts mailboxes for
local users in a different Storage Group. (Again, the concept is that the
same mailbox can't be accessed locally from both locations).

Re: Recommendations for Clustering?
Bharat,
Thanks after some reading and then seeing your response, It looks like I
will be doing what you suggest and setting up a second storage group and
then replicating it back to here for backup purposes.
It won't be precisely what I want to do, but it seems to be the best
available option.
Thanks!
