DST and Front End Server Question
Hey everyone,

We are running Windows 2003 sp1 and Exchange 2003 sp2. We have both FE and
BE servers. Anyone know what you have to do for your FE servers to bring
them up to date the the new DST? All the docs I've found just talk about
the BE servers.

I would assume that we need to run the Exchange Server DST Update but NOT
the Exchange Calendar Update Tool. Is that right? Anything else I need to
know about FEs? (I got the docs for the BEs).

TIA,

Clayton

P.S.: I wrote an iTunes podcast tutorial and just want to publicize it.
You can find it at: http://www.nikoli.net/itunepod

All you need to do is apply the DST patch to the FE, before the BE
servers if you are phasing the patches in.

Re: DST and Front End Server Question
The Exchange Calendar Update Tool is run against mailboxes that have
appointments from the affected extended DST period - as such, it is run
against servers hosting mailboxes, which would be your Back-End servers.
Nevertheless, both Front-End and Back-End servers should get the Feb. 2007
Cumulative Time Zone Update (KB 931836), and the relevant Exchange CDO Patch
(KB 926666 for Exchange Server 2003 SP2, KB 931978 for Exchange Server 2003
SP1).
