Logon to Node or Logon to EVS
When instructions indicate to "logon to the Exchange Server" (to make changes
via ESM), and these are Exchange 2003 Clustered servers... should I logon to
the "server / node" to run ESM, or to the "Exchange Virtual Server"?

If answer is: "it depends", what are determining factors for
which to choose?

Kind regards,

Re: Logon to Node or Logon to EVS
hi janie!

esm connects to the domain controller, not to the exchange evs. so you have
to connect to a dc to manage your exchange cluster environment.

Re: Logon to Node or Logon to EVS
ESM can be installed on an admin workstation, Domain Controller, Clustered
node, etc. You will use AD to logon into the Exchange Organization, then use
ESM to manage every EVS, Exchange Front End, etc. in your Org.

RE: Logon to Node or Logon to EVS
If you're asking for the reason I think you are the answer is it doesn't
matter. As the other responses here have said it's better to install ESM on
your workstation but if you're connecting via term services and simply want
to make a few changes you can logon to either the EVS or the node itself.
Thanks,
Dan
