Can you test exchange cluster with single node?
GOOD MORNING

I tried to test exchange 2003 cluster in a single node with local quorum. I
can not create exchange system attendent as there is no shared disk. Do you
know it's possible to test exchange cluster with a single node?

THANKS!

Re: Can you test exchange cluster with single node?
Sasa,

Thank you for your great help. I'll try this you mentioned. Adding another
SCSI controller with one disk will only work in single node cluster. It will
not work on two nodes, right? For two or more nodes cluster, you need SAN or
....

THANKS FOR YOUR HELP!

Re: Can you test exchange cluster with single node?
You can not add the DTC to a local quorum. Your best bet is to download
vmware or Virtual server and create a cluster. You'll find some help at

Re: Can you test exchange cluster with single node?
Virtual Server is now free.

Here's the doc on setting up a 2-node cluster in Virtual Server.
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/virtualserver/deploy/cvs2005.mspx

If it's the performance or actual hardware you want to test, you'll need 2
physical nodes and storage.

Re: Can you test exchange cluster with single node?
In windows 2003, by default the shared disk must be on a seperate bus from
the boot disk. However, this behavior can be changed. You don't need to
add another controller for a single node cluster test like this.

Re: Can you test exchange cluster with single node?
Thank you for all your help.

I set up 2 node cluster in Virtual server and it runs fine perfectly. Do
anyone here know that you can add another node to the two node luster in
virtual server?

Great Help!

Re: Can you test exchange cluster with single node?
That is true if you use SCSI, but iSCSI can support 8 with enough memory on
the Host.
