currently we are running 4 node exch cluster with SAN storage and this SAN is realtime sync with another SAN at DR site. My question is how to setting up a exchange server (cluster) at DR site and connect to SAN DR. at the end of the plan, we can bring down production server and up the DR server or vice versa without knowing by user. Is that possible ?
Off the top of my head (this is not accurate) you will need a DNS change for the virtual server name to reflect the new site. You may need to boot from SAN as Exchange will need the same server name and security info to see the databases ect from the original server. The servers at the other site will be off line, when SRDF cut over is enabled the DR servers come online and boot off SAN. Microsoft under Windows 2003 has majority cluster nodes and geographic cluster to help with cross site failover. It might be best to have a chat with your storage vendor. You may want to look at the article on Exchange Standby Clusters here: http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/exchange/guides/DROpsGuide/2493c2d6-618c-4c49-9cb1-fff556926707.mspx?mfr=true It works beautifully. -- Russ Kaufmann MVP - Windows Server - Clustering ClusterHelp.com, a Microsoft Certified Gold Partner Web http://www.clusterhelp.com Blog http://msmvps.com/clusterhelp
