iPhone Integration with Exchange 2003 R2 SP2
Hey Guys,

I'm having to integrate an iPhone with our Exchnage 2003. The iphone belongs
to the boss, so I have to give this a serious shot and provide a good
explanation whether it is feasable and possible or not. Basically, I'm
talking about mail and if possilbe calendar integration. He just needs to
have a separate copy of the mail forwarded to his device, be able to respond
and delete them, without affecting the integrity of his mailbox. So for
example, if he deletes an email from his device, he doesn't want it to be
deleted from his mailbox. But if responds to an email from his iPhone, he
wants it to be available in his Outlook later on.

Is this at all possible? Has anyone done this before? What do I need to do
to make this happen?

I'd appreciate your help, input or any links that would point me in the
right direction.

Tom

Plastered all over the Internet is "iPhone" and "IMAP". It's an IMAP
client. Calendaring is as good as you'd expect IMAP to be. You're
probably best doing a little research on the next version of the
iPhone due out that is going to use the ActiveSync methodology to sync
with Exchange server. At the moment it does it but it's not the most
feature rich soluion you're going to see.

If your boss can wait till Summer '08:

Pricing & Availability
Apple plans to release the final iPhone 2.0 software, including the iPhone
SDK and new enterprise features, as a free software update for all iPhone
customers by the end of June.

iPhone 2.0 is allegedly available in June - it's going into beta testing
now.

Re: iPhone Integration with Exchange 2003 R2 SP2
Hey Guys,

Thanks for all the replies. The boss already has the iPhone and is not going
to want to wait till June. Can anybody tell me what I need to do to make
this happen with IMAP?

Thanks much,

Re: iPhone Integration with Exchange 2003 R2 SP2
First read this:
http://msexchangeteam.com/archive/2007/07/10/446015.aspx
Email only. No calendar, contacts, notes, etc. Just email.

Next you need to configure IMAP on Exchange and open up the ports in
Exchange. I would suggest IMAP over SSL for security.
Here is a nice link:
http://www.azaleos.com/blog/index.php?q=node/43

Finally configure the iPhone.

They're very pretty and shiny and a lot of my clients are clamoring for
them. You're insulated from such matters now, far from the madding crowd.

Me, I won't be so interested until there's not only full ActiveSync support,
but also a model that has a slide-out hardware keyboard. I can't type on an
iPhone, even with my dainty fingers.

Re: iPhone Integration with Exchange 2003 R2 SP2
Not sure if it's to late to reply to this thread, but you may also want to
consider jailbreaking the iPhone and installing the hacked 2.0 firmware,
which has the ActiveSync support available.
