WM5 w/MSFP
Hi

We are trying to set up a smartphone to access our Exchange email. The
phone is Verizon's UT Starcom XV6700 (running on Windows Mobile 5 with the
Messaging & Security Feature Pack - OS 5.1.461 Build 15671.3.3.0).

The phone is not able to connect to Exchange server.

Our server is Exchange 2003 SP2. The Exchange Features of the user's
properties are:
Mobile Services
-Outlook Mobile Access: Enabled
-User Initiated Synchronization: Enabled
-Up-to-date Notifications: Enabled

Protocols
Outlook Web Access: Enabled
POP3: Disabled
IMAP4: Enabled

Please let me know the necessary steps to be done on the phone and the
server for this to work.

Thanks
Steve

EAS is actually enabled by default. Here is great article,

Re: WM5 w/MSFP
Hi and thanks for the link. According to this article, the new setting that
we learned was about COMM Manager where the mobile user can enable Direct
Push. I have the user check that out, and Direct Push has already been
enabled. So, something is still missing.

I kept searching for answer and came across this link
(http://msexchangeteam.com/archive/2006/04/03/424028.aspx). In there it
mentioned about the use of UDPListenPort = 2883
(HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\MasSync\Parameters).

Could you please confirm if this something the server needs as well as the
firewall needs to open the corresponding port ?

Thanks
Steve
ps. I had the impression that DirectPush is something like RDP/HTTPS (port
80), but perhaps it is not.

Re: WM5 w/MSFP
According to this link from Microsoft Technet, port 2883 is to allow a
one-way traffic between BE to FE server.

If we have a single Exchange server on a Windows 2003 STD server (no FE no
BE, all sitting behind a firewall), do I still open port 2883 on the
firewall ?

Re: WM5 w/MSFP
What link?

If you have a single server the only port that needs to be open for OWA
between the Internet and the server is 443. Don't open 80; you should
always require SSL.

Re: WM5 w/MSFP
I didn't get that you were wanting to enable direct push. Yes, that UDP
2883 would have to be opened if you want to use Always Up-To-Date.
