We are running Exchange 2003 SP 2 and are experiencing the following problem. XML files are not allowed filetypes in FileTyle1 or FileType2 (regedit: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\MSExchangeWeb\OWA) so a common fix is to change the file extension to .TXT. When a user receives an e-mail that contains a txt attachment (that was modified from xml), they are able to open the attachment just fine using Outlook 2003 or 2007, but if the user tries to open the attachment using OWA, it shows a blank page. Also, if the user tries to save the file to his/her local drive, the file saves as a 0KB file (even though when viewing the e-mail in OWA, the file name shows the actual size of the file). Has anyone experienced this or knows how to solve this? Let me know.
I've seen this on several 2003 servers now. The issue surfaced (as far as I can tell) with the advent of Exchange Server SP1. Anything that has XML content is stripped from the attachment on download. I'm pursuing the following solution and can let you know how things go. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/903146 "Allie" wrote: > We are running Exchange 2003 SP 2 and are experiencing the following problem. > XML files are not allowed filetypes in FileTyle1 or FileType2 (regedit: > HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\MSExchangeWeb\OWA) so a > common fix is to change the file extension to .TXT.
